Mr. Rottmayer has 30 years of solid track record in Telco environment, both in consulting as well as management capacity. Mr. Rottmayer is currently the President and CEO of Unicorn Communications Inc., a telecommunication design/build company specializing in outside plant, fibre, and wireless infrastructure turnkey programs.
Prior to Unicorn, he was the CEO of Ganesa Telecommunications. At Ganesa, he started up the Rural CLEC focusing on placement of fibre-to-the-premise and the "Triple Play" product offerings in Oklahoma, Arkansas, Alabama, Georgia, and Florida. Apart from P/L responsibilities, he has oversight of the design, installation, site acquisitions, procurement, commissioning and operations of FTTP network offering voice, CATV, and IP services via FTTP network.
Before Ganesa, he was the Program Director of Winstar Hong Kong. At Winstar, he was responsible for the design, installation, site acquisitions, procurement, commissioning and operations of LMDS network offering voice and IP services via LMDS network. Before Winstar, he was a Technical Consultant with Teleglobe, and was responsible for the redesign of telephony networks, including their Interconnects and SS7 networks.
During his career, he has built five international Greenfield telecommunications companies. Other positions he had previously held were, namely, Program Director of Fibernet Telecom Group (where he was responsible for turnkey design, installation and commissioning of a SONET-based transmission network that encompassed (8) strands of fibre in downtown Manhattan), Technical Consultant for XO Communications, Global Telesystems Inc, Program Director for Saudi Aramco etc.
Mr. Rottmayer has an extensive background in outside plant, consisting of the design and build of over 6.5million kilometers of outside plant networks (2.3million KM of Direct Buried, 3.45Million KM of direct buried within Innerduct, 750,000KM of Metro Underground systems (conduit/UCVs), 21.5million KM of Aerial (metro and rural), and in excess of 4.5billion KM of fibre routes). He has designed and built in excess of 1 million telecommunications towers, 2.5million BTS/NodeB, 200,000 BSC, and 100,000 MSC for the wireless industry. Additionally, he has designed and built approximately 5 million SDH/PDH microwave systems and approximately 8million KM of DWDM networks.
Mr. Rottmayer also conducts a variety of training sessions, at the Engineering, Technician, and Management levels, inclusive of fibre optics, project management, Outside Plant, IP, MPLS, DWDM, FTTx, PON, as well as several specialised management level courses. Several of his courses provide internationally recognized certifications.
