Mr Ed Hall, Canis Media, United Kingdom

CV

Ed Hall

CEO & Chief Executive

Canis Media Group

Chairman and Chief Executive of the Canis Media Group (www.canismedia.com) since 2001, a broadcasting company that launches and manages television channels from shopping to entertainment in the UK and overseas. In 2005 the company sold its own shopping channels in a £5M deal.

Prior to founding Canis, Ed established and ran the company that launched the ‘Simply’ group of channels.  He has been a director of an LSE-listed media company and is well-known as an entrepreneur in digital and broadcast media.  He is also a non-executive Director of TSI Broadcast, a London-based broadcast media facilities business (www.tsibroadcast.com).

He has bought, sold and launched more channel positions on the Sky satellite platform than anyone else.  Ed formerly worked as a broadcast and business consultant for a number of companies, including Channel 4.

Before moving into the business side of broadcasting Ed was a reporter and producer for the BBC, Channel 4, Thames Television and various newspapers and magazines.  He won a SONY Radio Award in 1998 for a programme in the series Ed Hall Investigates... for BBC Radio 5 Live. In 1997 he wrote and presented the BBC Radio series The First 100 Days about the beginning of the Blair Government. His book, We Can’t Even March Straight, about homosexuality in the military, was published in 1995 and was recommended as compulsory summer reading by The Economist.

On a more personal note Ed is a racing yachtsman, a Commercial Yachtmaster, and a volunteer RNLI crewman on the Thames Lifeboat.  He is an active member of the Conservative Party and on the list of Approved Parliamentary Candidates.

Educated at Christ’s Hospital School in Sussex, and Britannia Royal Naval College at Dartmouth, Ed now lives in London and Oxfordshire.
