Len has a successful track record in driving the adoption of cellular technology with consumers in Africa, both in affluent and disadvantaged communities. He has demonstrated this ability in diverse industries including mobile entertainment, loyalty programmes and financial services.

He established one of the first successful mobile banking businesses within a traditional retail bank. This new business unit, FNB Mobile and Transact Solutions, has played a pivotal role in shaping the mobile banking industry in South Africa. Re-launching FNB Cellphone Banking in March 2005 with an innovative service that allowed FNB customers to bank on any phone and across any network, it introduced a period of rapid mobile banking growth in South Africa. He is also responsible the role out of these services into FNB Botswana, Namibia, Lesotho, Swaziland and Zambia.

The fast growth and the popularity of mobile commerce in South Africa has attracted significant regulatory interest. Len participates actively in the evolution of regulation in the industry. He frequently speaks at conferences and has contributed to numerous articles and publications on mobile commerce. His business has won various innovation awards, including a Celent Model Bank award in 2009.

Before joining FNB, Len worked at Cell C and MTN. He holds a Mechanical Engineering degree and an Honours degree in Business Administration from the University of Stellenbosch, South Africa.
